AECOM is seeking a Landscape Architectural Designer for the Surface Transportation Department in Michigan. Projects may include the I-375 Progressive Design Build and Marshall Progressive Design Build projects. The role involves developing concepts, cost estimates, construction plans, and specifications for streetscapes, trails, and roadways in rural and urban environments. The designer will develop landscape plans using Autodesk and Bentley software, perform basic architectural/engineering calculations, and work in a collaborative environment with engineering and construction staff. Responsibilities also include preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings, conducting site analyses, creating detailed streetscape/hardscape and planting plans, and developing sustainable design solutions that incorporate green infrastructure and low-impact development techniques. The designer will collaborate with civil engineers, prepare presentations for clients and stakeholders, and participate in business development activities.

  • Develop concepts, cost estimates, construction plans, and specifications for streetscapes, trails, and roadways in rural and urban environments.

  • Independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
  • Conduct site analyses and assessments to determine project feasibility and environmental impact.
  • Create detailed streetscape/hardscape and planting plans, including plant selection, layout, and specifications.
  • Develop sustainable design solutions that incorporate green infrastructure and low-impact development techniques.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers to integrate landscape elements with stormwater management and transportation systems.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in landscape architecture and transportation design.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and client meetings.
  • BA/BS + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Previous landscape design experience in the context of Transportation projects such as roadways, highways, roundabouts.
