About The Position

The Park Planner (Landscape Architect), under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Operations, is responsible for assisting with the creation and execution of long-term and annual plans while managing and supporting all phases of project design, bidding, budgeting, and implementation, including supervising contractors and internal staff on multiple improvement projects. The Park Planner (Landscape Architect) is responsible for completing all assigned duties, tasks, and instructions in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop all phases of project design from preliminary to final solutions for various projects
  • Manage all phases of project development including site analysis, design, cost estimating, construction documents, technical specifications, bidding, construction administration, field representation, contract administration, payroll and prevailing wage compliance
  • Serve as Project Manager on capital improvement projects
  • Prepare inspection reports on job progress and work accomplishment
  • Develop and conduct all phases of plan development related to master planning, design development, strategic plan implementation, grant writing, and grant-funded project administration
  • Administer outside contracts for all phases of the project design process including but not limited to: professional surveying, geotechnical investigations, wetland delineations, project design, plan and construction document preparations, construction administration, field representation, and contract administration
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of contractors performing construction projects to ensure conformity with plans and specifications
  • Coordinate reviews of proposed projects to gain and sustain organizational consensus
  • Assist in identifying, estimating, and designing MetroParks infrastructure-related rehabilitation, improvement, and restoration projects
  • Administer external contracts for all phases of the project design process
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive spreadsheets and reports of MetroParks projects to support planning strategies
  • Assist with future capital planning, scheduling, and cost estimating
  • Prepare presentation level graphic plans and supporting documentation utilizing ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Google Sketch up, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and other programs as needed
  • Assist in the development, preparation, implementation, and updating of facility-driven master plans and strategic plans
  • Develop and maintain departmental operating standards for graphic development programs
  • Prepare and deliver presentations as determined by director
  • Coordinate and prepare regulatory agency reviews and permitting including but not limited to ODOT, FHWA, ODNR, OPWC, SWCD, OEPA, USACE, and other regulatory agencies
  • Prepare and deliver public presentations and represent the organization and the department as needed
