About The Position

Ackerman-Estvold is seeking an experienced Landscape Architect to play a key role in expanding our presence in Idaho while delivering meaningful, community-focused design. Based in our Garden City office, this role offers the opportunity to lead impactful projects ranging from parks and recreation spaces to transportation corridors, subdivisions, and commercial developments. This is a position for a professional who combines technical expertise with creativity, and who is motivated to build client relationships and grow a practice. In this role, you will lead and contribute to land planning and landscape design efforts that enhance the built environment while respecting natural systems. You will work alongside engineers, architects, and clients to bring concepts to life-from early visioning and entitlement through final design and construction support. This includes developing site plans, preparing design documents, and producing high-quality visualizations that clearly communicate ideas and solutions. A strong emphasis is placed on business development. You will have the opportunity and expectation to cultivate client relationships, identify new opportunities, and help grow the firm's landscape architecture footprint in the region. Your ability to connect technical expertise with client needs will be critical to success in this role. Day-to-day, you will analyze site conditions such as drainage, topography, utilities, and existing structures to inform practical, compliant, and environmentally responsible designs. You will prepare specifications, cost estimates, and presentation materials, while ensuring alignment with zoning, subdivision, and environmental regulations. You may also participate in site visits and inspections to verify that construction aligns with design intent. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of quality. We are looking for a candidate who brings both experience and initiative. A bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, urban planning, engineering, or a related field is required, with a master's degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of progressive experience in land planning and development, along with a strong understanding of landscape design principles, construction methods, and regulatory requirements. Technical proficiency is essential, including AutoCAD (required) and Civil 3D (preferred), along with working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp. Equally important is the ability to build and maintain client relationships, contribute to business development efforts, and represent the firm in a professional and engaging manner. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Garden City, Idaho, with occasional travel for project work, client meetings, and industry events. Ackerman-Estvold offers a highly competitive compensation structure based on experience, along with a benefits package designed to support both your professional and personal life. Notably, we provide overtime compensation at your base hourly rate for hours worked beyond 40 per week-an uncommon benefit for exempt roles in this industry. Our benefits include 100% employer-paid medical coverage for employees and child dependents, a 401(k) with a 5% company match, employer-paid life and disability insurance, and a range of supplemental insurance options. Employees also benefit from paid time off, flexible scheduling, clothing allowance, FSAs or HSA options, relocation assistance, and robust professional development support including paid certifications and memberships. Ackerman-Estvold is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating a workplace where all individuals are treated with respect and fairness in accordance with applicable laws. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment screenings. These checks are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
