About The Position

FourFront Design Inc is looking for a Licensed Landscape Architect to join our professional team. This engaging position works closely with clients, subconsultants, and interdisciplinary team members to successfully design outdoor spaces for commercial, federal, and municipal clients throughout the nation. Our work is primarily in the federal sector, and a large percentage of our projects are national Veterans cemeteries, VA healthcare, or related project types. Experience in federal projects is desired but not required. This position is remote (with in-office options based on location) and travel required. Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) or Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture (BSLA).
  • Active Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) record required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a landscape architect/landscape architect in training required.
  • Licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) required.
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings.
  • Design and drafting skills sufficient to work on all levels of design stages, including schematics, design development and construction drawings and documents.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize time in executing assigned tasks neatly and accurately.
  • State issued driver’s license.
  • Effective communication skills with ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
  • A strong working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 5+ years’ experience as a licensed PLA.
  • Preferred Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and experience or be willing to pursue within one year of hire.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), SketchUp, LandFX, and Lumion are preferred.
  • Preferred government and Veteran Affairs (VA) experience but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Management, including consulting with the client, understanding contractual commitments and expectations, completing site analysis and planning, coordinating due diligence and quality assurance, and overseeing project from design through construction.
  • Creating regional planting designs that incorporate local codes, topography, physical structures, plants, sustainability concerns, aesthetics, and public usage criteria.
  • Using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud to create drawings, reports, and graphics.
  • Mentor and direct activities of Landscape Designers responsible for preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Serve as Responsible Charge for multiple concurrent projects, overseeing design execution and stamping construction document bid sets.
  • Act in a client-facing role, providing design guidance, leading workshops and stakeholder engagements, and facilitating meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Manage scope, budget, and schedule for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Assist with preparation of proposal and qualifications packages, conduct business development activities with direction.
  • Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with specifications, approve quality of materials and work, and advise client and construction personnel.
  • Complies with ASLA Code of Professional Ethics, as well as State licensing professional conduct requirements.
  • Exhibits high-level communication skills to communicate effectively with teammates and clients.
  • Attention to detail and a growth mindset with an openness to feedback and improvement.
  • Ability to work remotely with multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative fashion.
  • Solution-oriented, positive, and a self-starter.
  • Ability to work independently and is comfortable with a work-from-home arrangement that includes a dedicated home office space that is free of distractions and presents a professional image with high-speed internet availability.
  • Travel and site visits are required. Travel via airline or vehicle is required. Approximately once a month for one to three days at a time.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, walk over varied terrain, and work in inclement weather.
  • Complete company-required drug test; completion of a background check and fingerprinting may be required by client.
  • Must be able to work in the United States.
