About The Position

The Landscape Architect is charged with direct project management responsibilities for ensuring that formal and informal (>$500,000 and < $500,000 respectively) landscape and hardscape improvement design and construction projects are completed on time and within established budgets while ensuring the capital improvement to the University's facilities meets Federal, state and local building codes as well as University requirements with minimal disruption to ongoing University activities. As an Architectural and Construction Services (ACS) Landscape Architect, this position is tasked with managing multiple landscape and hardscape capital improvement projects, ranging from a few thousand dollars to more than $500,000 per project. Landscape improvement projects can be large scale and may be valued up to $10M, are complex and technical in nature and involve those modifications to the outdoor environment requiring funding to implement. Projects may vary from new construction to minor renovations of the campus' landscape. This position has direct responsibility for project management during the design phase. This includes designer and construction manager selection, contract negotiation and administration, coordination of design with university and state stakeholders, budget management, schedule management, bid and award. This position requires the ability to anticipate issues and formulate options to resolve them; manage multiple projects; prioritize projects; use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans; and schedule people and tasks to achieve goals with minimal oversight.
