About The Position

The primary duty of the Land/Security Officer is to patrol recreational, residential, commercial, and industrial properties belonging to the Ounalashka Corporation to assure users are authorized and safety, regulatory and Corporation guidelines are complied with.

Requirements

  • Work is performed often outside in various weather conditions that may require walking over difficult terrain.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule may include weekends, holidays and evenings as required.
  • Ability to operate light duty truck (manual transmission) vehicles using proper safety standards and precautions.
  • Perform manual labor, including bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, lifting heavy objects, and walking through rough terrain; and the ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain and retain a valid Alaska Driver’s License before starting work – possess and maintain a good driving record free of any DUI or other major driving convictions.
  • Skilled driving ability requires ability to drive confidently on various types of roads in various conditions.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and carry up to thirty (30) pounds occasionally.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff and the public, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a neat appearance and interact with the public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Promote a positive image of the Corporation at all times and maintain corporate confidentiality, including, without limitation, executing, delivering and performing Corporation’s Standard Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Regularly patrol OC lands and facilities for trespass violations, abandoned property, pollution issues, damage, vandalism, and circumstance requiring management attention.
  • Assist the leasing department with monitoring leased properties for lease compliance.
  • Monitor OC properties, buildings and leased properties for damage, security, and compliance related issues.
  • Maintain a written daily patrol log, mileage log, write incident reports, document issues via photo or video as necessary.
  • Work cooperatively with the City of Unalaska’s Department of Public Safety, State Troopers, and other government entities in performance of duties.
  • Coordinates activities with other entities as needed.
  • Safely and responsibly drive a majority of Unalaska City roads and OC roads in order to patrol and observe OC properties.
  • Ability to decipher issues or tasks that need to be reported to management figures such as Corporation management, City Health and or Safety Officers.
  • Receive direction from the Lands and Property Managers and leasing department.
  • Understand land use guidelines and recognize violations thereof.
  • Clean up OC property of debris and garbage when observed.
  • Assist with maintaining and archiving game camera data.
  • Assist with the security of events such as the Annual meeting and other large gatherings.
