About The Position

Under general supervision, this position provides on-site customer service, visitor information, and light operational support at the Priest Rapids Campground. This position requires camping on-site throughout the operational season in a full hookup campsite with fiber network provided, and being present during peak visitation times, including holidays, Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and Sunday mornings. The host works a flexible schedule not exceeding 20 hours per week. Pre-planned days “off park” may be arranged in advance.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by date of hire.
  • Ability to learn and apply Grant PUD policies and procedures.
  • Skill in effectively communicate with and relate to people with different backgrounds; problem solving, thinking clearly and acting professionally under stress; preparing written comments on report forms; following written and verbal directions as they relate to work assignments; operating a vehicle in a safe manner by observing legal and defensive driving practices; cooperating and working effectively with others in a positive team atmosphere; being flexible and adaptable to complete daily tasks; exercising independent judgment and being a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm camper reservations.
  • Provide visitors with information about Grant PUD recreation sites and local recreation opportunities.
  • Offer customer service during check-in/check-out times and assist with resolving reservation issues.
  • Educate visitors on Grant PUD park rules, quiet hours, and hours of operation.
  • Distribute Grant PUD promotional materials (“swag”) as appropriate.
  • Initiate contact with campground rule violators to provide education and guidance. If the issue is not resolved within the campground, report the incident to District Security Operations Center (DSOC).
  • Report park rule violations occurring outside the campground directly to DSOC or contracted security.
  • Contact Grant PUD’s Security contractor to assist with park rule violations and report emergent safety issues.
  • Read and follow the weekend update provided by Recreation and Shoreline Management staff (emailed Thursday afternoon).
  • Monitor the boat launch boarding float for unauthorized use (if applicable).
  • Place the Camp Host A-board sign out during working hours.
  • Operate gates within overflow parking and the campground as needed (gate operations will be issued)
  • Report operations and maintenance issues to the Recreation and Shoreline Management staff or the Lands & Recreation Crew Foreman.
  • Dispose of debris in and around campsites to maintain a clean campground environment.
  • On-site presence is required during weekends and holidays for approximately 4–5 hours per day, not to exceed 20 hours per week (including holiday weekends).

Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions. Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor. Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.
