About The Position

The Landman IV position at Civitas Resources is responsible for managing complex land assignments and providing research and analytical support to land staff and company personnel. This role is designed for a qualified and fully competent land professional who can independently carry out projects while assisting lower-level staff with routine tasks. The Landman IV will oversee various aspects of land management, including planning and executing drilling projects, maintaining lease obligations, and resolving complex land-related issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Land Management or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience as a practicing in-house Landman in the oil and gas industry required.
• In-depth understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements related to land and mineral rights in the oil & gas industry.
• Proficiency in conducting comprehensive title examinations to determine ownership and encumbrances on properties.
• Negotiation skills for securing favorable terms in lease agreements and other land-related contracts.

Nice To Haves

• Permian Basin experience required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee area of responsibility within asset including planning, preparation, and execution of DSU projects for annual drilling inventory.
• Handle non-operated drilling and workover proposals, and maintain lease obligations and rentals.
• Prepare hearing exhibits and testify as an expert witness in front of the NMOCD or TXRRC.
• Assist and/or lead difficult planning and regulatory interactions.
• Resolve challenging or non-standard questions, requests, and issues that may arise from all disciplines.
• Interact with other Senior Land Advisors, Land Managers, and Business Unit Leads for project selection and execution.
• Review and approve standard and complicated title for drilling.
• Mentor lower level Staff Landmen.
