About The Position

The Landfill Operator oversees daily operations at the Ascension Islands landfill, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. This position involves coordinating waste disposal, activities, managing a team of operators, and maintaining equipment to support efficient landfill. operations. The Landfill Operator will also monitor and report on landfill conditions, implement waste, management best practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in waste management, environmental science, or landfill operations is preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of landfill operations, waste management practices, and environmental regulations.
• Strong leadership and team supervision skills, with the ability to train and support staff.
• Proficient in English for effective communication, both written and verbal.
• Computer proficiency, especially with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for record-keeping and reporting.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for operating and maintaining landfill equipment.
• Ability to identify and implement safety and environmental best practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily landfill operations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Supervise as needed a team of landfill operators, providing direction, training, and support.
• Monitor and maintain landfill equipment, coordinating repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Implement waste disposal best practices and monitor landfill conditions regularly.
• Prepare and submit operational reports to management, including any incidents or safety concerns.
• Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and use protective equipment as required.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized tasks when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned
