About The Position

Dry Creek Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscience Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Eagle Point, OR! . Location: 6260 Dry Creek Landfill, Eagle Point, OR . Landfill Operating Hours: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM Wed - Fri. and 6:00 AM- 4:30 PM Saturdays. Work schedule: Full-Time 40+hrs/Week. Schedule will vary within operating hours. Occasional Overtime as needed. . Drug and alcohol testing: Subject to pre-employment drug testing and to random drug testing. . RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Performing mechanical repair and maintenance on heavy trucks, earth moving, and related construction equipment including: road graders, gasoline and diesel-powered tractors, compactors, and dozers. Completing work assignments received both verbally and as written work orders. Determine the nature and extent of needed repairs. Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services including inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Diagnose Tier 4 heavy equipment engines, hydraulics, and all machinery. Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs. Maintain records of routine maintenance performed, defects and trouble spots identified, and repairs completed following established record keeping procedures utilizing Dossier. Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment. Performs field service work for emergency breakdowns. Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards. Work cooperatively with other Landfill employees. . Job Requirements: 5+ year experience in heavy equipment maintenance, or completion of a recognized heavy duty equipment mechanic apprenticeship. Class A CDL OR the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment. Provide personal tools. Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair. Familiarity and skill in the effective use of handheld computer testing equipment. Punctual and reliable in work attendance and job performance. Ability to work independent of direct supervision and to respond with flexibility to potentially changing service demands. Reading, writing, and verbal skills required to read and understand manuals and work instructions, respond to written and oral instructions, and to provide written documentation and to exchange information in English. . Preferred Additional Skills: Knowledge and skill in fabrication and the safe, efficient and effective use of tools used in fabrication, including both mig and arc welding, cutting torches, plasma arcs, hydraulic jacks, overhead hoists, hydraulic presses, porta-power, and pressure washers. . Requirements
