About The Position

The Landfill Gas Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). This role ensures compliance with environmental regulations while optimizing the performance of gas collection systems. The technician will work independently, managing data collection and maintenance tasks, and will be available for on-call responses to system malfunctions.

Requirements

• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Physical Science, Biology, or Chemistry or Electrical/Mechanical.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license.
• Must be 18 years of age or greater.

Nice To Haves

• Computer literacy skills are highly valued for this role.
• Prior experience in the Waste/Landfill industry, construction, and/or environmental field work experience.

Responsibilities

• Properly operate and maintain GCCS in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance.
• Calibrate, operate and maintain sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize LFG collection from the wellfield.
• Collect and manage data entry from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring locations.
• Implement the GCCS preventative maintenance plan.
• Operate and maintain liquid management system pneumatic or electric driven pumps.
• Perform wellfield valve/vacuum adjustments, data collection and maintenance; interpret data.
• Use PVC or HDPE piping materials and associated equipment to perform maintenance on piping materials.
• Complete the WM Landfill Gas Technician I Training.
• Develop a basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations.
• Follow job-related health and safety requirements and procedures.
• Available for on-call response to GCCS related malfunction event(s).
