About The Position

The Landfill Foreman will perform functions to safely supervise, direct and coordinate performance of the employees involved with field operation. This role provides leadership to other operators and promotes a positive employee/employer relationship. Requirements

  • Ability to operate any type of equipment necessary to perform job
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of individuals.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with others
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations that apply to the job
  • Ability to write simple reports and correspondence such as pre- and post-trip inspections, accident reports, daily paperwork, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple correspondence and instructions such as company policies and procedures, etc.
  • Ability to apply common sense reasoning to carry out written and/or oral instructions and to solve general problems
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under limited supervision
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired.
  • Must pass a DOT physical including drug screening and background check
  • Clean driving record
  • Operators of Landfills and Waste Processing Facilities Certified
  • Stormwater Certified
  • EPA H/VAC Certified
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operations Supervisor/Manager with sustaining a productive and motivated workforce by screening, selecting, training, developing, and evaluating personnel required to meet service commitments.
  • Follow policies for inspection, maintenance and repair of vehicles/equipment.
  • Help ensure operators are performing task knowledgeably, productively, and safely.
  • Ensure that all operators complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports, daily equipment report, operational forms, and other documentation daily.
  • Provide feedback to Operations Supervisor regarding operator’s productivity, work performance, etc. daily.
  • Assist General Manager/Operations Manager with hiring, training and monitoring performance of personnel.
  • Identify, direct or perform ongoing training of personnel.
  • Investigate and evaluate cause and extent of damage to vehicles or property as a result of accidents.
  • Act as the backup for the General Manager/Operations Manager if there is not one at the location.
  • Assist in resolving any customer concerns and bring to resolution.
  • Assist in resolving any operator concerns and bring to resolution.
  • Working knowledge of equipment to manage solid waste and/or cover materials.
  • Operate equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure operator’s complete VCR’s.
  • Communicate equipment/vehicle mechanical problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain operational quality standards as predetermined by management.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
  • Follow all safety and equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties.
  • Comply with all federal, state, local and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.
  • Assist the Operations Supervisor with accident investigations and preparing the necessary paperwork.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Attend and assist with safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
