About The Position
The Ferrantello Group, P.C. is seeking a skilled and experienced Land Surveyor Party Chief to join our team in Plainview, NY. As a multifaceted, full-service land surveying company with over 50 years of experience, we pride ourselves on delivering quality service and technical excellence across various projects. The Party Chief will play a crucial role in performing surveys using advanced optical and electronic survey instruments, including total stations, levels, and GPS. This position requires a strong understanding of land surveying principles, field procedures, and equipment use, as well as the ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the Party Chief will be responsible for detailed documentation of field notes, raw data, and photos, as well as maintaining accurate records of survey control used, found, or set. The successful candidate will perform advanced data collection functions, including translations, rotations, and resections, while ensuring the regular maintenance of field files, daily logs, vehicle inventories, and maintenance logs. The Party Chief will also provide daily reports and weekly project progress updates to the Project Manager, ensuring that all field runs are scheduled efficiently and that crew safety is prioritized. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Party Chief and be proficient in conducting various types of surveys, including Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, ALTA Surveys, and more. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for coordinating with team members and ensuring that all project requirements are met. The Party Chief will also be responsible for interpreting surveys and maps, determining curb-walk point offsets, and performing construction layout tasks such as foundations and drainage staking.
