About The Position

Join the Lacey KPFF team as a motivated and energetic entry level Instrument Person on our surveying team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting field surveys using various surveying instruments and equipment while maintaining high accuracy standards. The position entails field work and minimal office work. Job duties include field topographic, boundary, right-of-way and construction surveying, and supporting office staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in the land surveying field
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver License

Nice To Haves

  • Carlson Survey software experience
  • Topcon robotics experience
  • AutoCAD experience

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to work on a variety of project types
  • Time management to ensure commitments and schedules are adhered to
  • Operate surveying instruments including total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectors
  • Perform construction layout and topographic surveys
  • Record field measurements and maintain detailed field notes
  • Set up and maintain survey equipment
  • Assist in establishing horizontal and vertical control points
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures on construction sites
  • Transport equipment to and from job sites
  • Perform basic calculations and verify data accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with survey crew members and project leads
  • Maintain equipment in proper working condition
