About The Position

Thomas & Hutton is a privately held professional services company founded in 1946. To provide quality service and project support to our public and private clients, our services include Civil, Environmental, Structural and Marine Engineering; Land Surveying; Land Planning; Landscape Architecture; Geographic Information Systems and Construction Administration. Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a Land Surveyor to join our Survey Department in Savannah, GA. Survey Crew Members work on crews of two to three people and assist in performing a variety of land surveying activities. Much of the work is physical in nature and includes tasks such as carrying supplies, holding equipment, driving stakes and clearing line. Crew Members must be able to perform these tasks in a wide range of temperatures and work environments. Valid driver’s license required.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in an outdoor environment preferred. Survey experience preferred; experience with Carlson SurvCE, Robotic total stations and Trimble GPS equipment a plus.
  • This position will require driving. A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Strong work ethic. This role often requires overtime.
  • The ability to work a regular schedule of 6:30AM - 5:30PM Mon-Thurs plus overtime.
  • Strong math skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and work environments.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc.
  • Ability stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a wide range of temperatures.
  • Ability to climb hills and walk long distances.
  • Ability to traverse different types of terrain.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
  • Ability to interact both verbally and written
