The Land Operations NRM (Natural Resource Management) intern position will have exposure and the opportunity to support all of the teams within NRM, with a specific breakdown of tasks depending on the successful candidate’s background. Candidates should expect to spend up to 70% of their time in the field, at times in remote locations. Field work is likely to include a significant amount of hiking. The successful candidate will support the team in the following ways: Collecting field-based data to advance NRM program goals Performing desktop analysis of collected field data Shadowing our Land Program Managers while learning about forestry, timberland management, vegetation control, rural road management, and/ or designing roads for water quality Support in project management and execution for any of the above work streams Support with guidance documentation updates Assist setting up field projects including various vegetation treatments such as fuel reduction, hazard tree removals, brushing, and herbicide applications Field data collection could include the following: Road conditions assessment and inventory collection Bridge inventory support Operational data to support project set ups Hazard tree inventory for power generation, gas, and electric substation facilities Vegetation projects assessments and work verification
