We are hiring a Land & Environment Lead for our Texas head office — if you have experience in the construction materials industry, we want to hear from you! You will independently lead key compliance projects, manage permits and audits, and support site development decisions for our Ready Mix, Asphalt, and Aggregate operations. This individual contributor role requires strong autonomy, project coordination, and collaboration across teams to ensure regulatory adherence and operational integration—all while championing safety leadership.

Requirements

  • Post secondary education in environmental science, engineering, mining or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in land, permitting, or environmental compliance, ideally in aggregates, construction materials, mining, or a similar industrial sector
  • Working knowledge of environmental and land use regulations and permitting processes, with the ability to interpret permit conditions and apply them in the field
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to be self-driven
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects and tasks to completion with minimal day to day oversight
  • Strong technical writing and data analysis skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, summaries, and supporting documentation
  • Strong Excel skills for tracking, reporting, and budget management
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with operations, management, regulators, landowners, and external consultants
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and sites at the same time
  • Comfort providing practical guidance or informal training on compliance topics to site managers and frontline employees
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Willingness to complete fieldwork and site visits as required, including travel of approximately 10–25% to various operational and prospective sites

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety leadership in all work environments and areas
  • Complete site inspections, field assessments and data collection to support land and environmental decisions
  • Track and help manage environmental and land use permits, licenses, authorizations, and agreements for site development and operations
  • Conduct internal and external record keeping, compliance reporting, and regular permit / environmental audits and inspections
  • Identify, assess, and support due diligence on prospective Ready Mix, Asphalt, and Aggregate sites, including basic field assessment work and preliminary feasibility inputs
  • Collaborate with operational, functional and project management teams to integrate permit and environmental compliance into daily operations and capital projects
  • Lead day to day coordination of select land and environmental projects, including managing timelines and follow ups
  • Communicate with internal partners and manage external consultants
  • Ensure reclamation responsibilities at each site are met in a timely manner
  • Support the securement of required permits and authorizations, and monitor associated financial securities and reporting requirements
  • Assist in training and providing practical guidance to site managers and employees on land and environmental compliance expectations
  • Participate in relevant training and industry associations to stay current on applicable land use and environmental laws and regulations
  • Complete invoicing and track expenditures related to assigned budgets and capital or compliance projects
  • Perform other related duties as required to support land and environmental objectives
