About The Position

Doucet, a Kleinfelder company, is looking for a dynamic Practice Lead of Land Development to join our Austin office and be responsible for the P&L of the Austin Land Development department. This position creates performance and sales goals, ensures project managers and engineers comply with company quality standards, monitors the performance of the production team, and provides senior level expertise to guide staff in solving complex problems. Projects range in size and complexity from small to large, including retail, commercial, residential and master planned communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Typically, a minimum of fifteen (15) plus years of experience in civil engineering - land development.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and lead business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage business operations for your team, including creating an annual business plan with Project Managers and presenting it to the Area Manager - Vice President.
  • Establish department objectives by collaborating with team members and management.
  • Oversee business development activities, including coordination with BusDev team and promoting your technical team to engage in BD.
  • Cultivate key client relationships and develop a growing pipeline.
  • Achieve Department financial goals including KPI: revenue, team utilization, net revenue multiplier, DSO, profitability, etc.
  • Manage AR collections, project profitability, change order submission, and monthly invoicing.
  • Conduct risk management including contract review, proposal review, and licensing review.
  • Consistently update the department's financial forecast.
  • Ensure current company and departmental standards are met and operational excellence is achieved.
  • Maintain an Open Door Policy and communicate employee and company objectives and goals.
  • Initiate and follow-up on performance reviews, support improvement plans, and ensure successful development of staff.
  • Manage all members of the team with authority to recruit, interview, onboard, train, evaluate, promote, and discipline.
  • Engage Health and Safety to educate and maintain awareness of safety aspects/requirements of projects.
  • Enhance professional and technical knowledge by meeting professional education requirements and participating in professional societies.
