Position Summary Boyd Built LLC is seeking a Land Development Engineer to support the planning, design, and execution of land development projects. This role will assist with subdivision design, permitting, engineering coordination, and construction documentation for residential and mixed-use developments. The Land Development Engineer will work closely with the Vice President of Engineering, the Land Development team, and the Construction team to guide projects from feasibility and entitlement through construction completion. This position is critical to the continued growth and success of the organization’s development pipeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Planning or related field preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience working in land development, civil engineering or site design for Engineering firms, Development Companies, or Home Builders.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required).
  • Strong knowledge of Land development processes, zoning and subdivision regulations, environmental and planning regulations, and site permitting procedures
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a credit and criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • E.I.T. or P.E. certification preferred
  • Experience with residential or mixed-use land development projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD / CAD software preferred
  • P O workflow processes
  • Micro-soft project experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of construction documents for land development projects, including single-family, townhome, multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Prepare preliminary layouts and engineering concept plans to determine density, lot configuration, open space, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Work with engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and other consultants to develop comprehensive site plans and design packages.
  • Assist with development cost analysis and project budgeting.
  • Support feasibility and due diligence efforts including: field studies and sketch plans, environmental reports, geotechnical analysis, wetland reports, boundary surveys, title review, and Phase I environmental assessments.
  • Coordinate site plan approvals, rezoning applications, and permit submissions.
  • Review agency comments and work with regulatory reviewers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal land use regulations.
  • Manage communication between internal teams, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Assist with construction bid review and contractor selection.
  • Monitor project schedules and design progress.
  • Assist with budget development and cost tracking for infrastructure, site work, utilities, and community amenities.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and job cost reports to ensure alignment with project budgets.
  • Coordinate with utility providers to confirm capacity and service availability.
  • Ensure proper planning of water, sewer, drainage, roadways, and stormwater systems.
  • Provide project updates and communicate development progress to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with documentation and tracking of development bonds and letters of credit.
