About The Position

ERM is hiring a Land Agent in Wharton County, Texas . The Land Agent will be responsible for the acquisition of land, land rights, licenses, leases, permits and other documents necessary for the construction, operation, and maintenance of renewable energy sites. This is a full-time (40hrs/week) , limited-term remote and field-based role with 50 % travel to and from identified sites throughout the county as required for a duration of 12 months, renewable . Physical demands required for the successful performance of this job include standing and/or walking for long hours in a day on uneven and steep terrain, and possibly during variable weather conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • 3+ years of experience in land acquisition, oil and gas leasing, real estate negotiations
  • Active TREC/ERW License.
  • Solid working knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Earth, ArcGIS, and data management software.
  • Understanding of real estate title (surface and mineral), past experience of title research preferred .
  • Familiarity and experience of reviewing title opinions and curative measurements .
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills working with landowners or respective legal counsel
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity of Microsoft Office Suites (ie. Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Outlook) .
  • Must meet criteria identified in Job Demands & Conditions Analysis for Office and Field Positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Renewable energy experience (solar) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct diverse and complex negotiations with landowners (or their designees)
  • Work on the settlement of complex damage claims with landowners (or their designees) relative to property damage caused or created during the construction.
  • Search courthouse and other records to determine present property ownership(s) and the extent of interest therein.
  • Advise and assist in establishing a range of fair market values to be used in the acquisition of land and land rights.
  • Draft and/or supervise the preparation of documents for rights of entry, damage claims, contracts, easements, licenses, leases, permits, options to purchase and other documents as may be necessary to acquire adequate rights for the project.
  • Compliance with corporate health and safety policies .
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
