About The Position
The Laminator Operator position at Sonoco involves operating a lamination machine to produce laminated rolls of film that meet both company and customer specifications. This role is crucial in ensuring that the production process is efficient and adheres to quality standards. The operator will be responsible for setting up the laminator, which includes selecting the appropriate type of adhesive, print rolls, and sealant webs. The operator must maintain a clean and orderly work area and comply with all safety and regulatory requirements. This position requires a thorough understanding of the machine's capabilities and the ability to read and interpret work orders and specifications. In addition to operating the laminator, the Laminator Operator will oversee the Laminator Assistant, providing training and guidance to ensure that the assistant can operate the machine independently when necessary. The operator is also responsible for maintaining accurate production records, including roll tickets and quality assurance check sheets. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in reporting any mechanical issues to the Shift Team Leader and ensuring that all materials are returned to their proper locations after use. The position requires physical stamina, as the operator will need to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and work in a pressroom environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. The operator must also be willing to adapt to a new 12-hour night shift schedule in the future, which will follow a 2-2-3 rotation. Overall, this role is integral to the production process at Sonoco, contributing to the company's commitment to quality and efficiency in packaging solutions.
