Lactation Specialist: ONSITE in UNITS Position Summary: The Lactation Specialist is accountable to the Newborn Services Manager and works collaboratively with other SPHP staff who provide services to childbearing women. Requirements

  • Associates Degree required in a Health related field; Bachelors degree in a Health related field preferred.
  • CLC (certified lactation counselor certification) OR certified breastfeeding counselor (CBC) certification is required.
  • International Board of Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) is expected to be obtained within two years of employment by full time lactation specialists.
  • Two or more years of experience in clinical or community service setting, one of which must have been in the area of maternal-child care.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lactation counseling/consulting experience highly desirable.
