About The Position

Learn more about Lactation Services at Children's Mercy The Lactation team at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is dedicated to meeting the needs of the mother/baby dyad by promotion, education, support and assistance for all mothers who are providing breastmilk. The team provides support to families whose children are inpatient as well as those seen in our Primary Care Clinics and Ambulatory clinics. We coordinate and collaborate with the medical team to bring focus to & promote inclusion of each family's feeding goals in the plan of care. Manages unit-based patient care services; including personnel and fiscal management and development of programs and services. Participates in department and hospital performance improvement activities. Provides family centered patient care that is based in scientific theory and is outcome focused. Requirements

  • IBCLC Certification Required Upon Hire
  • Bachelor's Degree required and 1-2 years experience At least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing.
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Director) Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred and 1-2 years experience

Responsibilities

  • Personnel management.

  • Fiscal management and accountability.
  • Actively participates and provides leadership for education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
