Requirements

  • IBCLC required within 6 months of hire.
  • RN license required.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • NRP (AAP) within 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • One to two years previous experience preferred
  • Experience using computers for data management and entry
  • EPIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Lactation Consultant will provide skilled lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the healthcare facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management.
  • Contacts physician offices, patients and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care in the department.
  • Orders breastfeeding/pump supplies for the unit and restocks supplies as needed.
  • Accurately enters information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Manages CMQCC data.
  • Does education for nursing staff.
  • Helps facilitate educational classes for patients as well.
