Requirements
- IBCLC required within 6 months of hire.
- RN license required.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- NRP (AAP) within 30 days upon hire and maintain current
- One to two years previous experience preferred
- Experience using computers for data management and entry
- EPIC experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- The Lactation Consultant will provide skilled lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the healthcare facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management.
- Contacts physician offices, patients and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care in the department.
- Orders breastfeeding/pump supplies for the unit and restocks supplies as needed.
- Accurately enters information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system.
- Manages CMQCC data.
- Does education for nursing staff.
- Helps facilitate educational classes for patients as well.
