About The Position

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is seeking a Lactation Consultant to provide skilled direct lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the health care facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings. The consultant will promote breastfeeding and assist with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• (IBCLC) International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
• 1 year of experience working in lactation support required.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and on-going assessments of the patient's lactation goals and issues.
• Takes patient histories, performs breast and feeding evaluations, develops treatment plans and makes appropriate referrals as indicated.
• Designs and implements education programs and community outreach activities as needed.
• Responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.
