About The Position

This position is skilled in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to assist the breastfeeding mother to attain her individual goals. This position functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team as a consultant, educator, and mentor to nurses, healthcare professionals, and patients.
This position is responsible to the Director of Pediatrics\Obstetric and is employed by Mosaic Health System.

Requirements

• Graduate of an School of Nursing; BSN required.
• Currently RN licensed in the State of Missouri.
• BLS certification upon hire.
• Crisis Prevention Institute, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 90 days of hire.
• 3 years of experience as an Obstetrical RN is required.

Nice To Haves

• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant upon hire is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource to all units within the hospital on issues related to breastfeeding.
• Conducts health education, psychosocial, nutritional assessments for breastfeeding patients on the Obstetric unit and in the Nursery.
• Assist in development and implementation of the breastfeeding plan of care.
• Assist in development of nursing standards in regards to breast-feeding infants and Lactating mothers.
• Coordinates breastfeeding support group/community outreach.
