Under the guidance of departmental leadership and the Lactation Education Specialist-RN, the Lactation Consultant will coordinate, oversee and participate in the management of the breast-feeding mother-baby dyad. This role will coach, consult and educate patients on feeding plans for all newborns, including the complex neonate using current lactation theories and research to develop evidence based feeding plans. In addition, will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and outpatient lactation services to provide continuity of care post discharge. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member's compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • One year experience as an IBCLC/ maternal child health/ intern with Garnet health's Lactation program in a relevant maternal health care setting required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and develop programs in support of breastfeeding initiatives required.
  • Certification by International Board of Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required.
  • Current and on-going BLS certification is required.
  • Work requires extensive standing and walking.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in perinatal health, lactation studies preferred.
  • Two (2) years recent experience as inpatient IBCLC in a hospital or physician's office setting preferred.
  • Experience in research and data collection preferred.
