About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Lactation Consultant for our Mother Baby Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Lactation Consultant, you will: • Role model positive customer service behaviors through the consistent application & deployment of AHC’s Values and Mission principles and holds self & others accountable. • Perform assessment of the mother-baby couplet identifying possible conditions or difficulties based on history, interview, and assessment. • Uses critical thinking skills to develop an individualized plan of care for the patient/family. • Provide information and problem-solving ideas to resolve breastfeeding difficulties through personal interaction and demonstration. • Provides emotional support and crisis intervention directly to mothers/families and through staff mentoring. • Creates a work environment that promotes cooperation, respect and trust among team members; Engages effectively in teamwork and team building processes. • Identifies opportunities for improvement in clinical care and participates in change of practice based on evidence. • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Two years’ experience in Nursing; one year’s experience in Lactation
  • Current Maryland State nursing license
  • Current Basic Life Support Certificate
  • IBCLC Certification within one year of hire
