We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and certified Lactation Consultant to support new and expectant parents in achieving their breastfeeding goals. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance, education, and hands-on assistance to promote successful lactation and infant nutrition in inpatient settings.
Requirements
- BSN required
- Certification as an International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) from International Board of Lactation Consultation Examiners (IBCLE) is required.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized lactation consultations to patients in hospitals, clinics, or home settings
- Assess and address breastfeeding challenges such as latch issues, milk supply, nipple pain, and infant weight gain
- Educate families on breastfeeding techniques, pumping, milk storage, and feeding plans
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and dietitians to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient interactions and progress in medical records
- Lead breastfeeding classes and support groups as needed
- Stay current with best practices and research in lactation and maternal-child health
- Advocate for breastfeeding-friendly policies and environments within the organization
