Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
IBCLC – Lactation Consultant certification within 12 months required

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred
IBCLC – Lactation Consultant certification upon hire highly preferred

Responsibilities

Function as expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff and physicians
Serve as clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence
Produce documentation that initiates, follow and revise patient’s plan of care
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes and promote continuity of care
Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding
Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
