About The Position

The Womans Hospital of Texas is seeking a Lactation Consultant PRN to join their team. This role is under the supervision of the Director of Education and is responsible for individual Lactation Consultant practice, ensuring optimum patient care. The consultant will collaborate with various disciplines to enhance clinical outcomes, reduce length of stay, and improve resource utilization while ensuring patient satisfaction. The position emphasizes the importance of maintaining competence and continuing personal and professional growth in line with ILCA standards.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing, BSN or IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) preferred.
• BLS required.
• One year of recent clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with all disciplines to enhance clinical outcomes, reduce length of stay, improve resource utilization and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Serves as a clinical resource and consultant for issues related to patient care for patients, physicians, staff and the community.
• Maintains competence and continues personal and professional growth congruent with ILCA standards.
• Participates in establishing, maintaining, and improving patient's health care goals through assessment, planning, implementation of interventions and evaluation of outcomes.
• Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities.
• Accurately and completely documents all aspects of care given.
• Prioritizes the patient as number one.
• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by managing time effectively and promoting cost effectiveness.
• Advocates for and strives to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient.
• Communicates effectively with other care providers to ensure continuity of patient care.
• Fulfills requirements of attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping practices.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude, personal initiative and motivation to achieve unit goals.
• Upholds the standards of the profession and organization, practicing ethically and with integrity.
