About The Position

The Laborist position at NYU Langone Health involves providing exceptional inpatient care for obstetric patients, including both low and high-risk pregnancies. Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (M.D. or D.O.)
  • Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Successfully completed a U.S. Accredited OB/GYN Residency training program
  • New York State Medical license
  • Five years' work experience
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient coverage for FGP patients and unassigned patients requiring obstetric admission.
  • Admit and manage patients in labor, overseeing routine and complex deliveries, including operative vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
  • Evaluate patients presenting in triage and facilitate their admission or discharge as clinically indicated.
  • Manage postpartum patients, addressing complications of pregnancy and delivery, routine postpartum care, and ensuring timely postpartum discharge.
  • Perform neonatal circumcisions as part of routine postpartum care.
  • Provide emergency room care for patients experiencing early pregnancy complications.
  • Supervise and deliver care for high-risk patients, with 24-hour consultation support from Maternal Fetal Medicine faculty.
  • Collaborate with General Ob/Gyn physicians for primary management of laboring patients.
  • Maintain the highest standards of evidence-based obstetric care.
  • Attend to departmental and unit quality and safety goals, including achieving low primary cesarean delivery rates and prompt recognition of clinical safety concerns.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to enhance operational workflows for patient care.
  • Facilitate a High Reliability Organization (HRO) by exhibiting professionalism for patients, colleagues, and staff.
  • Participate in committees and meetings related to departmental growth, resident education, and quality initiatives.
  • Contribute to the educational and research goals of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
