About The Position

Metropolitan Companies is looking for Laborers to join our team! Laborers perform a range of duties on the job sites under the supervision of the Superintendent for multifamily projects as part of our Haverford Square by Metropolitan division. This is a full-time position working on job sites in the West Philadelphia area (zip codes 19104 and 19131). Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a field carpenter or related experience
  • Must be able to lift 100lbs
  • Must be able to work on job sites with various weather conditions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (sites are located in West Philadelphia; 19104 and 19131)
  • Time management and punctuality
  • Ability to take and follow directions from supervisors
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a crew
  • Attention to detail and pride in quality of work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reading blueprints
  • OSHA 10 certified
  • Experience in the residential construction industry

Responsibilities

  • Stage, mobilize and de-mobilize projects (zip walls, floor protection, etc.)
  • Perform demolition of existing conditions in preparation for a remodel / fit-out
  • Perform saw cutting/masonry work for plumbing trenches, block work
  • Install wood framing for residential projects and metal framing for commercial projects
  • Perform finishing work on the project (installation of cabinetry, interior trim packages, etc.)
  • Install door frames, door slabs, and hardware
  • Install acoustical ceiling work as needed
  • Perform insulation or sound barrier work as needed
  • Perform drywall work as needed
  • Install commercial and residential accessory packages
  • Complete punch out work
  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites as directed
  • Assist skilled tradespeople (electricians, plumbers, HVAC) with material staging and clean-up
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including proper use of PPE
  • Perform daily job site clean-up and waste removal, including proper disposal of debris
  • Maintain accurate timecard records for each job site
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and conduct on the job site
