About The Position

The position involves performing general construction tasks that require physical labor at various construction projects and plants. The role includes operating hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, and erecting scaffolding, among other responsibilities. The work may require long hours, including nights and weekends, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
  • Must have a valid NC Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends if needed.
  • Outside work experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work with hand tools and follow directions.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC Card and meet criteria for obtaining a military base pass.

Responsibilities

  • Operate jackhammers, drills, and other power tools as required.
  • Position, join, align, and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
  • Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; mix, pour, and spread concrete.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
  • Attend to machines that pump concrete, grout, cement, sand, plaster, or stucco through spray-guns for application to ceilings and walls.
  • Attend to pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt.
  • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  • Load, unload building materials, machinery, and tools.
  • Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
  • Learn and follow safety regulations.
  • Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, and masons.
  • Work long, flexible hours as demanded by customers.
  • Perform additional duties as required or directed by supervisors.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
