Methuen Construction is seeking a Laborer to provide essential support to the Field Operations department. This position is crucial for the successful execution of various construction tasks and reports directly to the Foreman. As a full-time, hourly non-exempt position, the Laborer will engage in a variety of responsibilities that are vital to the construction process. The role involves cleanup of debris, grounds, and buildings, as well as stripping of concrete framework, including the removal of exposed ties. The Laborer will also be responsible for unloading materials and deliveries to the project site, hand excavation, digging trenches, raking, tamping, and compacting soil. In addition to these tasks, the Laborer will place concrete in formwork, including horizontal formwork for flatwork, and will be involved in vibrating concrete. The position requires setting up ladders, means of access, scaffolding, and planking, as well as wrapping and covering materials with tarps, polyethylene, or insulating blankets. Mixing mortar and grout, backfilling, grading, and laying drains, sewers, and other piping in trenches are also key responsibilities. The Laborer will assemble manholes, catch basins, and drainage structures, tend to all other trades, and handle materials on site prior to final installation. The role also includes handling and placement of riprap, slope protection, erosion control, and siltation control materials, as well as spreading and rolling of bituminous asphalt. Additional duties involve screeding concrete, patching holes in concrete surfaces, and performing demolition activities. The Laborer will engage in hand grading of earth materials, curb setting, and landscaping, as well as setting and stripping concrete sidewalk forms. Installation and removal of temporary weather protection, handling, rigging, and setting of precast concrete slabs, planks, walls, and curbing, sand and water blasting, and application of concrete curing compounds are also part of the job. The Laborer will be involved in the installation of insulation, damproofing, and moisture barrier materials, concrete coring and cutting, sheet piling, lagging, and shoring of trenches and excavations, and fire watch activities. This position is not responsible for the oversight of other teammates, but it requires a strong ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, a positive attitude, and a hardworking, motivated approach.
