About The Position

Responsible for trash and organic waste collection and removal;
Makes deliveries to departments as required;
Responsible for special events setups and breakdowns;
Assists the gardeners, keepers and tradesmen as required;
Cuts grass, performs leaf removal, shovels snow and performs other outside maintenance tasks as required;
Moves heavy furniture, boxes, equipment, tables, chairs, etc.
Performs material handling and loading and unloading of trucks as needed;
Operates heavy mechanical cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, snow blowers, buffers, etc,;
Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel and other related tasks and duties as assigned.
Provides “wild service” when interacting with visitors and staff.
Participates in Zoo functions as required.
Participates in educational trade classes as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent and one to three years’ experience is preferred
• Ability to read, write and communicate at a level that enables the individual to perform essential functions
• Ability to lift 50 pounds chest height
• Position may have to work in extreme weather conditions
• Shift is Night, also requiring availability on weekends and holidays
• Valid PA driver’s license required at all times; annual verification must be provided
• Must be able to drive utility cart, utility van (small to large) and dump truck (one ton and less)
• Position is physically demanding requiring the ability to walk, stand, lift, push, pull, carry, bend, stoop, twist, etc.
