Laborer
About The Position
SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is looking for hard-working, dependable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer your main responsibility will be decommissioning vehicles by removing fluids, batteries, and other components prior to sending them to the crusher or shredder. You will also be responsible for the unloading, processing, and disassembly of various types of scrap metal; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of scrap material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe, effective manner. This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Working hours are from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours as needed. Requirements
- High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
Nice To Haves
- 1-year previous auto decommissioning/processing experience preferred.
- Front end loader or telescoping boom forklift experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems preferred.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles for crushing/shredding by draining and capturing all fluids; and removing the battery, catalytic converter and other identified vehicle parts.
- Operate various hand tools and fixed equipment, air compressors, vehicle racks, CFC recovery equipment, etc.
- Recaptures refrigerant’s on received appliances, air conditioners, and vehicles.
- Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
- Provide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
- Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
- Provide backup or help throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
- Follow all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.
