POSITION OVERVIEW: The Laborer/Ground position will be assigned to a variety of projects on various job sites. The position will assist the Foreman on monitoring the ground functions of the equipment as well as operating heavy equipment, smaller equipment, and/or completing physical labor related duties. The Foreman will also direct the daily work activities of the Laborer/Ground. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: May operate equipment that requires technical expertise and/or specialized training. Heavy mechanical equipment to include but not limited to front-end loaders, track and/or rubber tire loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, motor graders, water trucks, milling machines, reclaimers, and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner. Inspects equipment, and/or components daily to identify hazards, defects, necessary adjustments and repairs. Performs minor maintenance activities and reports exceptional problems to Foreman and/or supervisor. Ensures equipment is clean, maintained, and securely stored. Maintains ability to use sensors for level and grade control. Occasionally confers with customers or the general public and is expected to do so in a professional manner. Communicates any concerns to Foreman and/or supervisor. Maintains good working relations with co-workers and other employees. Maintain ability to work overtime, nights and weekends particularly during the high season. Maintains ability to travel up to 100% of time to various job sites. Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Complete special projects as required.
