About The Position

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture. This entry-level position in the maintenance department assists with the cleanup and maintenance of the mill shop, mine shop, lube car, and all locations within the mine and mill as assigned. The role involves operating snow removal equipment and other equipment as required. This position is required to continue to learn skills and prepare for advancement to higher job classification.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of JD Edwards and Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, E-mail, etc.) is a plus.
• Ability to look up parts on the computer.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Willingness to work as a team and be courteous to customers, the operators.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and use hands to hold and lift objects.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow all company and Smoky Canyon policies and procedures.
• Perform all tasks safely and in compliance with all company, federal, state, and local rules and regulations while minimizing risks to human health and environment.
• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance and repairs on pipeline transportation and auxiliary equipment.
• Complete assigned safety rounds and make necessary repairs and/or clean up.
