Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year or more of industry-related experience, particularly in roads, highways, and bridges.
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.

Responsibilities

• Assist construction and paving crew with various duties including shoveling, raking, and running a wheelbarrow.
• Operate small power tools such as jackhammers.
• Place, move, and dismantle signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic devices.
• Measure distance from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight lines.
• Bolt, nail, align, and block up under forms.
• Signal operators of construction or asphalt equipment for alignment and movement.
• Level earth or asphalt to grade specifications using picks, shovels, and rakes.
• Mix concrete and apply caulking compounds.
• Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts.
