About The Position

The position involves performing various tasks in a landfill, including containing loose refuse to prevent scattering and directing traffic at the landfill. The job requires manual labor, such as picking up windblown paper, using a mobile vacuum to gather refuse, and driving a tractor to assist in cleaning the area. The role also includes directing traffic during busy periods and handling construction materials for site maintenance.

Requirements

• Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manually picks up windblown paper from the periphery of the landfill.
• Carries a large plastic trash bag and walks along the fenced border of the landfill.
• Pulls paper from the fence and lifts loose paper from the ground, depositing refuse in the bag until full.
• Uses a mobile vacuum to gather loose paper and refuse.
• Drives a tractor pulling a vacuum along the fenced border of the landfill.
• Directs the flow of trucks at the landfill entrance during heavy traffic.
• Communicates with drivers verbally or by hand signals.
• Lifts construction materials for projects related to site maintenance.
• Uses hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws.
• Manually separates metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor.
