Requirements

• Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manually picks up windblown paper from the periphery of the landfill.
• Carries a large plastic trash bag and walks along the fenced border of the landfill, as well as on exterior land adjacent to public property.
• Pulls paper from the fence and lifts loose paper from the ground, depositing refuse in the bag until full.
• Uses a mobile vacuum to gather loose paper and refuse.
• Drives a tractor pulling a vacuum along the fenced border of the landfill and on exterior land adjacent to public property.
• Directs traffic at the landfill entrance during heavy traffic periods, communicating with drivers verbally or by hand signals.
• Lifts construction materials for projects related to site maintenance, such as lumber, bags of concrete mix, and hand tools.
• Uses hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws.
• Manually separates metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor at landfills with transfer stations.
