Temporary Street Maintenance positions offer full-time employment (40 hours/week) beginning mid-May and continuing through mid-August (max. 67 working days). The regular work schedule will be Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (30-minute lunch). Keeping city streets in good repair is a challenge because of the extremes of Minnesota weather, especially the freeze-thaw cycles during winter. The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining Duluth streets within the city. Primary maintenance activities include: Crack filling, Gravel roads maintenance, Pothole patching, Right of Way (ROW) weed control, fencing, mowing, Roadside debris removal, Sidewalk repair and maintenance, Snow and ice control, Special events support, Street line painting and markings, Street sweeping, Traffic control, Traffic sign management, installation and maintenance.
