Laborer Grounds
About The Position
The Laborer – Grounds Maintenance position assists in keeping buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly condition, and in maintaining and repairing minor utility system breakdowns. Mows and trims turf areas; collects and disposes of refuse; maintains piers, boat docks, ramps, garden amenities, barrier posts, fences, District signs, picnic tables, comfort stations, playground equipment, and shelters; includes lake management. Assists with interior building maintenance, including cleaning floors, restrooms, and fixtures. Assists tradespersons and other skilled laborers with various construction and/or repair projects. Assists with maintenance and operation of all machinery (i.e., mowers, tractors, pumps) used in grounds and building maintenance. Will be required to perform weekend preserve maintenance duties. Drives a motorized vehicle to travel to different locations. Performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. Performs heavy lifting tasks up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- No formal education required.
- Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance, motorized equipment (i.e., front-end loader, tractor, riding mower, watercraft, and other pieces of motorized equipment) and vehicles.
- Basic knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions pertaining to grounds maintenance and construction projects.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
