About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. The role involves operating small equipment and hand tools on a variety of job sites consisting of paving, grading, pipe installation, and site work. Responsibilities include maintaining housekeeping of job site and facilities, ensuring equipment is in good working order, and following all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. The position requires reporting any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager, performing routine inspection and preventative and corrective maintenance on small equipment and hand tools, and assisting other crew members as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalency) AND prior relevant job experience.
• Valid/Clean Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to work a varied schedule of day shift, night shift, and weekends due to construction contracts.
• Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment (excavator and loader experience preferred).
• Working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in typical site work, grading, storm/sanitary/water pipe installation.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Operate small equipment and hand tools on various job sites.
• Maintain housekeeping of job site and facilities.
• Ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
• Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative and corrective maintenance on small equipment and hand tools.
• Assist other members of the crew as needed, including shoveling and cleanup.
• Fuel, oil, and grease equipment to ensure proper function and complete associated paperwork.
• Perform other related activities as assigned.
