About The Position

The Laboratory Technician performs laboratory measurements of golf clubs and golf club components to provide the research and development department with accurate information in an effort to develop new products. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting various laboratory tests, and preparing measurement data for entry into a database.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic working knowledge of Excel spreadsheet software and Microsoft Access.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as loft and lie gages, swingweight scales, digital scales, tensile tester, torque tester, flexboard, inertia tester and other equipment.
  • Perform laboratory measurements of heads, shafts, grips and clubs.
  • Conduct laboratory tests: tensile, ball cannon, environmental, etc. of clubs and components.
  • Prepare measurement data to be entered into database.
  • Records test results on standardized forms.
  • Calibrates laboratory instruments.
