About The Position

The position involves the setup and performance of equipment and test setups for clients. The individual will be responsible for building and adapting setup and test equipment to ensure optimal performance during tests. This role requires examining test samples, reading blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions, as well as following defined test plans and datasheets. The candidate will evaluate test performance and sample operation to accurately assess test results, record and explain these results, and complete test reports. Additionally, the role may involve directing staff in test setups and communicating with customers to ensure proper evaluation during the setup and operation phases. The individual will operate designated machines and special laboratory equipment, perform routine maintenance on test equipment, and may conduct basic calibration of such equipment. The position also requires reading and understanding specific test standards and testing technology, initiating recommendations for new equipment designs, and communicating with engineers and management regarding test methods and results. The candidate will operate with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility and integrate continuous improvement concepts into their work.

Responsibilities

  • Build and adapt setup and test equipment for performance of tests.
  • Examine test samples and read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions.
  • Follow defined test plans and datasheets.
  • Evaluate test performance and sample operation to assess test results.
  • Record and explain test results and complete test reports.
  • Build and adapt setup and test equipment to new situations based on data sheets and instructions from engineering personnel.
  • Direct staff in test setups as needed.
  • Examine less complex customer samples and learn to operate appropriate tests with supervision.
  • Communicate with customers during setup and operation for proper evaluation.
  • Operate designated machines and special laboratory equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.
  • Perform basic calibration of test equipment as required.
  • Read and understand specific test standards and testing technology with supervision.
  • Initiate recommendations for new equipment designs and solutions to observed test problems.
  • Receive instructions from and report data to engineers and engineering management.
  • Communicate with clients during test setups to discuss methods and results.
  • Record observed or calculated data on appropriate forms and prepare data sheets and test reports.
  • Plan tests, evaluate results, and report opinions and interpretations as directed.
  • Integrate continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job.
  • Communicate with management and technical staff to suggest improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
