About The Position

This position is a full-time, 1-year term appointment in Norman, Oklahoma. Interested candidates should submit applications as soon as possible. The individual (s) selected for this position will primarily work with water projects across Oklahoma with the Oklahoma Water Survey at OU in the School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science. Responsibilities include: installs, maintains, and operates field equipment at on-campus and remote research laboratory sites; collects and processes water samples; assists with computation and data entry of hydrologic-related field data; and assists with research project management. Candidates should be comfortable working in all weather conditions, regularly involves visiting field sites with potential exposure to natural hazards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures
  • Ability to communicate well (verbal and written) and build rapport quickly with students, staff, and faculty
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
  • Detail-oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Able to work well with interdependent teams and initiatives
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including proficiency with Excel spreadsheets
  • Driver's License required to travel to field laboratory sites
  • Physical stress or discomfort includes, but is not limited to odors, greasy, inky, or dirty materials, extreme temperature, irritating noises, heavy lifting, stooping, standing, bending, climbing, or sitting with no relief and safety hazards.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in a Biological or Physical Science.
  • Strong writing and speaking skills (English)
  • One year of water-related job experience.
