About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs, Rockport Works has an immediate opportunity for a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing multiple required tests on materials per the Quality Standard Operating Procedures (QSOP). Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America. The Company is vertically integrated from mined raw materials, direct reduced iron, and ferrous scrap to primary steelmaking and downstream finishing, stamping, tooling, and tubing. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to interact with peers and management in a positive manner

  • Ability to work rotating schedule; including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and quality by following all JSHA’s and QSOP’s and participating in daily safety and quality meetings.
  • Collects, receives, and properly handles production and analytical samples, ensuring correct identification and testing priority.
  • Performs mechanical and chemical testing, including tensile, strength, elongation, grain structure, corrosion, carbon/sulfur, oxygen, chromate, and phosphate analyses.
  • Accurately records, reports, and communicates test results using Labware and approved data systems.
  • Conducts safety and quality observations to support compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Verifies, maintains, and documents calibration and performance checks of laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Collaborates with production teams to support analytical and formability testing needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
