About The Position

Laboratory Technician Huntsman is seeking a Laboratory Technician supporting the Polyurethanes Division located at the Terol – Houston Port Site. This position will report to the Manager, Quality Assurance. Job Scope The Laboratory Technician performs analytical testing using a variety of laboratory instruments to support process control, product quality, and shipping activities. This role ensures accurate and timely analytical data is provided to operations to maintain product quality throughout the plant. In summary, as the Laboratory Technician, you will: Coordinate and organize daily laboratory activities to support Operations and Shipping requirements. Perform laboratory testing and analysis of product samples using instruments such as Karl Fischer and hydroxyl auto titrators, pH meters, AA spectrometer, GC, FTIR, FT-NIR, and related computer systems. Review, re-test, and verify questionable product quality and provide final quality classification decisions. Record, report, and verify analytical test results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality standards. Conduct special laboratory analyses and support special projects as required. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, reporting malfunctions and performing routine repairs as necessary. Monitor the safe handling, identification, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste streams generated by laboratory activities. Maintain current knowledge of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling requirements, including MSDS compliance. Ensure adherence to all safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies. Maintain knowledge of laboratory methods, testing techniques, and procedures related to assigned responsibilities. Work collaboratively with team members from diverse backgrounds and assist with achieving Huntsman business objectives. Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and complete all required company training. Maintain regular on-site presence and work overtime as needed to support production requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field OR High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience as a Laboratory Technician.
  • 0–12 months of related laboratory experience preferred for Associate degree holders.
  • Proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to accurately follow laboratory procedures and testing methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills for reporting analytical results.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to EHS requirements.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing or industrial laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytical instruments such as GC, FTIR, and AA spectrometry.
  • Prior experience supporting process control and product quality in a production facility.
